School Bus Crashes In Houston While Transporting Seniors To Graduation Ceremony
Houston, TX- Graduation is a time when students and their parents get to celebrate and reflect on all the hard work they put forth that has led them to this point. KGNS reported that there were six buses heading to NRG Stadium to drop off seniors of Pasadena Memorial High School to attend their graduation when the first bus attempted to avoid an accident with a truck which then led to a chain reaction crash. Four out of the six buses were involved in the wreck. The source stated that 11 of the high school seniors sustained injuries along with a bus driver and a faculty member. The students who had sustained injuries were placed on stretchers and transported to a local hospital.
Pasadena ISD released a statement regarding the accident acknowledging what had transpired and that replacement buses were sent out to pick up the uninjured students to take them to the ceremony. The school delayed the graduation ceremony for 30 minutes as they waited for the injured students to be treated. Out of the 11 students, only two were unable to attend.
School Bus and BMW Collide in Houston, TX
Another bus accident occurred a few days later in Houston involving a Humble ISD school bus and a BMW. It was around 12: 00 p.m. when Harris County Sherriff’s Office was called to the scene of the accident on Will Clayton Parkway near Timber Forest Drive. According to ABC 13, there were no children on the school bus at the time of the collision, however, the bus driver along with the bus aide were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The BMW driver was also taken to the hospital, however, his/her condition was unknown.
An eyewitness to the accident managed to take a few photos of the scene that showed multiple people being transported into an ambulance on a stretcher. The front of the school bus was also severely damaged as a result of the wreck.
